Meat Free Monday

Livestock is the biggest source of greenhouse gases. Meat Free Monday can reduce your school's carbon footprint and change student's attitudes towards meat consumption.

Food Waste

30% of all food is wasted, and with it all the resources used to create it. With growing populations and climate change threatening food security it is vital to cut down on our food waste. Create a food waste information board or a display at your school to raise awareness about food waste and how to avoid it.

New year's tree

Create a tree out of scrap paper and ask everyone in the school to write new year's environment resolutions on a leaf to add to the display! A great way to encourage everyone to think about their impact on the environment and how they can become more environmentally friendly.

Reusable bottles

Ban plastic bottles at your school and encourage students to bring reusable bottles. With one million plastic bottles being bought every minute, this is a huge and growing problem for our oceans.

Air pollution

Air pollution indirectly kills 1.7 million children a year worldwide and is responsible for a fifth of the UK's CO2 emissions. When parents drive their children to school, they create congestion and air pollution directly outside the school, harming both the pupils and the environment.

Give a talk

Give a talk about an environmental issue you're particularly passionate about. Whether it be veganism or palm oil share your knowledge to encourage others to act. Here are some presentations to get you started.

Fast Fashion Free

The fashion industry produces 1.2 billion tonnes of CO2 every year, yet despite its massive environmental footprint, a  rubbish truck worth of clothes is sent to landfill every second. Start a Fast Fashion Free February or Swap Shop to tackle this problem.

Single use coffee cups

We use 80 single use cups every second in the UK alone - of which only 0.25% can be recycled (most people assume all cups can be recycled!). Ban single use cups or encourage the use of reusable cups at your school to cut down on your waste.
