New year's tree

This is a great project to get everyone thinking about their impact on the environment in the new year and try to encourage them to be more eco friendly (not to mention it looks beautiful!).

Create a display with the skeleton of a tree (preferably out of scrap paper) and put it up in a prominent position in the school. Then cover it in leaves filled with pledges to more eco-friendly written by pupils.

Either provide a box with leaves and pens so people can add their own eco pledges to the display when they pass it or ask form tutors to encourage all pupils to write a pledge on a leaf in registration and collect these to hang up.

Example pledges:

  • I will only eat beef once a week

  • I pledge to not buy any new clothes/ try to shop more in charity shops

  • I’ll try to avoid products with palm oil

  • I will always use ecosia instead of google

  • I will encourage my family to switch to renewable energy

  • I will tell x number of people about climate change

ABOUT US >

This is a website built to be a free, accessible data set of resources for eco groups at secondary schools. It will hopefully grow as more people add their projects and ideas, and we can create a network of school groups all fighting for change.
